A Gothic tower in honor of a novelist

The Walter Scott Memorial in Edinburgh is a Gothic Victorian spire, the world’s largest monument to a writer.

Going up its spiral staircase is a little bit like working your way through The  Heart of Midlothian.

  1. Uma, what an impressive monument! Are you traveling in Scotland? In May we visited Scott’s lovely home, Abbotsford, and paid our respects to him at his grave in Dryburgh Abbey. Really unforgettable. We did not see the monument, so thanks for sharing.
